Post 6: Post graduate studies

Right in this moment, I`m in the year of the career when I ask myself if to take or no to take a postgraduate degree, on the one hand it is convenient  because it is cheaper and I can advance subjects, in fact, I already have postgraduate courses, but anyway will be a year or a year and a half more at the university and my idea is graduate me this year, since I already studied a career before so I’m already in the age of exercising some profession, be able to be an independient person and have stable money. Another factor why I decided not do postgraduate is that in interviews to do my practice, the staff of the companies does’nt care if the new graduate has a magister, it’s preferable to gain experience first, that's what they told me. That’s why I prefer to gain experience especially in the area that I like (agroindustry and oenology), areas in which I have ventured with my thesis and with elective and postgraduate courses. In the future, I want to do a magister, hop...

Post 4: Videogames

This topic is not my specialty, since I am not a fan of video games, but I must say that when I was a girl I was good at playing video games at the time that Nintendo was released. I was around 8 years old when my parents brought the super nintendo for a Christmas, they bought it in the zofri from iquique, I still remember it well since at that time I had never had an approach to videogames I loved games like Mario Bros and Dong King Kong, especially the last one, as it was very entertaining. I remember we spent day and night playing with my cousin and my brother until we could pass all the stages. Then I kept buying other games, but they were very expensive so it was not so easy, and I started to get interested in other things. But my brother was obsecionado with the games, he played every day with his friends, he bought all the versions of nintendo, cube, 64. Then when the Playstation appeared I got involved again with the games, since now I could buy CDs very cheap and I could...

Post 3: Movies

Image
Movies! An art that charms many people since time immemorial. I've had a fondness for movies since I was a little girl when my uncle who worked selling movies in the “Persa biobio”, brought copies to my house and I saw them all, and then I became a member of the "Bazuca" service, where from a web page I chose the films and they arrived to my house. At that time my favorite movies were some like: Taxi Driver, Buffalo 66, Lost in Translation, Eraserhead, Elephant, Pulp Fiction, No Country for Old Men, Fight Club or some horror movies of series B like "Night of the living dead".  There was a moment in my life that I liked cinema so much that I thought about studying "film and audiovisual communication", but it was just a stage jeje, I spent all weekends at the Cine arte Normandie, or traditional cinema. Now I see movies of all kinds, but I will always have a fondness for independent films since it is a kind of cinema where there is a free...

Post 2: My best holidays

I saved money, for a long time with my boyfriend, and we prepared a trip through South America, 2 years ago. The first stop was in Perú by bus from Iquique. First we visited Tacna, a city with a lot of commerce, then Puno, a rural city, and then we went to Lima, a city with a lot of activities. We stayed in a hostel for backpackers very cheap but comfortable in Miraflores. Here, friends were waiting for me for put music in a party (I´m dj) Then we travel to Bolivia, La Paz, but the city was paralyzed by elections. Then we went to a beautiful place called Copacabana, around Titicaca lake, the most beautiful was an island called Isla del Sol. We had to climb many steps to get to the top, with the tents and backpacks it was difficult, but an Aymara child helped us. A totally recommendable place. Then we travel to Paraguay throught the Chaco, it was an exhausting 27 hour bus trip, on an old rural bus without air conditioning: the worst but most remembered bus trip of our lives. In Asunsi...

Post 1: Introducing myself again

Hi, new mates, I will introduce myself again. My name is Camila Castillo, I'm in fifth year of Agronomy and I hope next year will be the last year jej. If you want to now more about me, check out the other posts of the previous semester. At this new semester, I would like to write about the future, what are the plans of each one. I see many classmates of early years of the carreer, and It would be good to see diferent perspectives when you first enter the university o when you know more about the carreer or different subjects.

Evaluation of blog experience

In general, it was a good experience, since I was able to reinforce writing, grammar, and reading. It was good to be able to express some opinions on topics, but I think that, after each post, we didn't have a discussion of the topics as a whole, since personally my greatest weakness is expressing myself orally in English, I lack a lot of practice, and I see that most of my classmates also lack that. So to talk about different topics is what we should do.  Another problem was the teacher's delay in delivering the corrections. I think we should have received corrections every week for the post we made that week, so we could see where we were failing. As I saw in another post, I think a good idea is to read long texts in English and write about them in a post, summarize them and give opinions about them, since it could help us a lot for the thesis and postgraduate work where we have to read many scientific texts in English. I hope you consider these ideas for the next leve...

End of semester: The storm before the calm.

I would love to say, that I finished my semester, but there are still missing second and third tests, and exams, and all that concentrated in a single month, so, the stress will be my best friend. Well, I think I'm exaggerating, since I've had a worse semester. I have only 6 subject this semester, including English. And most are subjects of little demand, such as professional practice, where they give you tips for job interviews, good oral presentations, and links with companies related to my career . My favorite subjects will always be the postgraduate ones, since they are related to all the topics that one is interested in, some more than others, my area is winemaking, but I'm interested in almost all topics related to agro-industry But I also have backward subjects like "agricultural systems", and tomorrow I have the first test, where topics such as: balance of energy, water balance, carbon balance, and all the factors of the balance relate to each other...
